A kingfisher mainly eats fish. It catches them with a nice dip in t water. The bird can dive as deep as 50 cm, but usually catches them at a shallower depth. Once it has caught the fish, it will eat it on a branch near the water. To make the fish flounder less, it slaps the fish on the stem, the fish stuns and the kingfisher gulps m in.
The bird chose a branch not far from me, the fish didn't agree and floundered around a lot.
