Kirkjufell is a striking mountain in western Iceland, located near the town of Grundarfjörður on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. Known for its impressive shape, the mountain is often considered one of Iceland's most picturesque mountains.
Kirkjufell has a characteristic conical summit and is surrounded by steep slopes. Its name literally means "Church Mountain" in Icelandic, due to the mountain's resemblance to a church steeple. The mountain is also known from the iconic series Game of Thrones.
I took this photo after a snowstorm, after a few hours the landscape was completely covered in snow. Difficult to get to the location, but beautiful to see with the clear sky. In the foreground you can see the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall, half frozen.
