Landscape, Camille Corot, c. 1872 oil on canvas, h 38cm × w 56.5cm Corot belonged to the Barbizon School, so admired by the Hague School. Around 1840, the village of Barbizon was home to several painters who painted outdoors in nature and lived among the peasants. Corot made this painting after a trip through Les Landes, the region south of Bordeaux. The old title of the painting is therefore Souvenir de Les Landes.
