About ‘Lapstrake hulll’ by Hans Lok

They are the colours of the Dutch flag. Red, white, blue and the slanting lines also make it look like it's waving in the wind. But, it is a piece of the hull of a classic clinker sailing ship. A scandinavian sharp yacht. It was lying on the shore at a museum yard in northern Germany in Greifswald. One of those shipyards that survived modernisation, the East German period and everything that happened after the unification of the Germanies. The yard no longer maintains and builds fishing vessels, but repairs and renovates classic ships, old schooners and cutters and yachts. And so that is also where this classic yacht lies, waiting for the bad parts to be sawn out of the hull and the rotten parts to be replaced. And then, in a few years, a new loving owner can launch his bright red hull again and explore the Baltic Sea between Germany, Sweden and Denmark with full sails.

My great loves are the water and everything about it. Ships, travel, history and photography. The combination is therefore very common in my photographic work. Most photographs are created intuitively. It is an image that strikes me, usually a combination of form and color in which a part of reality is framed into an image. The result is a fitting form.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
