This work shows the extraordinary landscape of the Campo de Piedra Pomez pumice field on the puna near the town of El Penon. It is a desert-like area high in the Andes mountain range once originated as a lava flow and after solidification formed and changed by wind erosion creating the most wondrous patterns and shapes. It is an alien landscape far from any form of civilisation where you feel you are alone on the world. Wind is an essential element at this location and the background of the photo shows the signs of a dust storm. The photo was taken just before sunset, giving it a warm hue.
