What do you see at work?
This image captures the splendour of a lavender field in full bloom. The purple hues contrast subtly with the soft, grey-green leaves. The foreground sharply shows a few flowering lavender buds, while the background fades more and more, creating a dreamy and almost endless sea of lavender. Look closely, and you can see that some of the flowers have already dried out a little, a sign of the warm Provence sun.
What was your inspiration for this work?
This work was inspired by the scents and colours of Provence in summer. The soothing fields of lavender are one of the iconic landscapes of southern France, and this image brings a piece of that experience to the viewer. It is an ode to the natural beauty and serenity of this region.
What mood are you trying to set?
A calm, almost meditative atmosphere. The soft focus and light tones create a calming effect, almost as if you can smell the scent of lavender and feel the warm breeze over your skin.
Describe the emotion or message you want to convey with this work.
This work exudes tranquillity, simplicity and timelessness. It invites you to dwell on the small, beautiful moments in life, such as a walk through a lavender field at sunset.
Did you use a special technique?
The depth of field in this photo plays a big role: the lavender in the foreground is razor-sharp, while the background slowly fades, creating a dreamy effect. The slight overexposure gives it an ethereal, almost painterly look.
What makes this work special in an interior?
This work fits perfectly in a space where rest and relaxation are key, such as a bedroom or a wellness area. The soft colours and dreamy atmosphere bring a touch of Provence into the home and evoke the feeling of a summer holiday.
