Leo Putz (1869-1940) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist known for his outstanding works in portraiture and nudes. He was born in Merano, South Tyrol, and studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Putz was an important representative of Art Nouveau and later Expressionism. His works are characterised by their elegant lines, fine details and a particular sensitivity to the human form. As a professor at the Munich Academy, he influenced the next generation of artists and left an impressive artistic legacy. Leo Putz died in 1940 and his works can now be admired in various museums and collections around the world.
