About ‘Light Between the Earth’s Layers’ by Color Square

The work depicts a spectacular interplay of undulating rock formations in which light, colour and movement merge almost fluidly into one another. Deep midnight-blue areas enclose lighter bands of ice-blue, white, soft violet and warm orange. The shapes are reminiscent of the weathered walls of a narrow canyon, but the strong stylisation simultaneously lends the image a distinctly abstract character.

The fine, closely spaced lines are key to the work’s atmosphere. They trace every curve as if centuries of erosion had revealed layer upon layer. An impressive sense of movement emerges particularly at the top: a light-coloured rock formation seems to unfold like a cloth, drawing the eye towards the warm glow at the centre. That subtle orange light forms a beautiful contrast with the surrounding blue.

Also striking is the almost hidden opening in the centre. The dark contours on either side make this narrow passage a natural focal point. This creates the impression that light is flowing outwards from the depths of the landscape.

A powerful work in which abstract art, rock formations and organic lines come together. The combination of cool shades of blue and warm earth tones gives the painting an air that is both mysterious and serene.
