About ‘Lighthouse on the Pink Granite Coast’ by SR Blaauw

On the rugged coastline of Brittany, where jagged granite boulders have been shaped by the wind and sea over the centuries, a solitary lighthouse stands as a beacon in the soft evening light. The warm glow of the setting sun gives the rocks an almost golden hue, whilst the sky slowly shifts from pink to blue. Amongst the large rock formations, subtle paths and stone terraces lead the eye towards the tower, which stands proudly overlooking the ocean.

This scene unfolded during a quiet moment by the coast, as the last rays of sunlight swept gently across the landscape. The combination of the impressive rock formations, the calm water and the distinctive lighthouse made an immediate impression. It is precisely the contrast between the rugged stones and the soft light that creates a special atmosphere of tranquillity, strength and timelessness.

What appeals to me in this landscape is the idea of direction and a sense of stability. Lighthouses always have a symbolic quality: they show the way, even when circumstances change. That message is reinforced here by the warm light that envelops the landscape. Thanks to the natural colours and rich textures of the rocks, this piece brings warmth and depth to an interior. An atmospheric coastal landscape for lovers of travel, nature, seascapes and authentic European coastlines.
