Limoncello in Positano is a digital artwork created by a fusion between a drawing and a painting. The drawing is made with drawing techniques of pencil and charcoal and the painting consists of several layers of various painting techniques.
The work was inspired by a film shot I took in Positano, a tourist attraction on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. There I was offered a free glass of Limoncello every so often by beautiful saleswomen. What a nice fresh yellow drink!
I couldn't walk a straight line by the end of the afternoon. When I took this shot I had the greatest difficulty in getting a stable shot even with a tripod. So my memory of Positano is probably prettier than it really was. In any case, I made this work as a kind of tribute to that blurred afternoon.
The end result is a figurative expression. Perhaps a bit surrealistic. In any case, the artwork looks wonderfully warm. The azure and turquoise colored sea. The warm glow of the sun on the horizon that beautifully illuminates the buildings, greenery and rocky mountains on the coast. The emerald hues in the water close to the beach of Fornillo with an empty boat near the tower. It all makes it the idyllic place I could remember it being.
