White lines against a hard blue sky. The wooden conductors, weathered by sun and water, form a beautiful connection between the single wire at the top and the wires at the bottom. A powerful play in lines and colour, the wiring belongs to a gulet. A traditional wooden two-master or, sometimes, three-master. A sailboat with a rigging different from ordinary sailboats. Anyone who has ever seen it will immediately recognise the play of lines in the picture. For those who don't know it, the play of lines is just that, a play of lines. Sleek and almost perfect against a brilliant blue sky, I came across the boat during a sailing holiday near Bodrum and Marmaris, on the southern coast of Turkey. And while we were enjoying sailing, snorkelling and beautiful weather, I was looking for an image to capture the whole boat while I was on it. This abstract photo is that for me: unique for a gulet, belonging to the area I was in and full of summer holiday spirit.
