After a day of travelling on bumpy roads, we arrived in Maria la Gorda. I'm not even sure if it's a place, given that name, and western Cuba. It does have a small hotel with rooms like cottages and palm trees and beach in between.
Had this been in any other place in the world there would have been a big hotel put up, with big restaurant, lots of sun loungers and for evening entertainment. But luckily it is in Cuba and when I was there, it was lovely and above all without unnecessary frills. And who needs those too, when you can see this sunset every night. After a day spent reading, looking for shells and relaxing overlooking a beautiful green-blue sea, this is the bonus. A sky that turns completely purple, pink and red even when the sun has not yet set. A moment to enjoy, with a drink - or in my case, a camera - in your hand.
