About "Lion Fountain Citta Della Pieve Umbria"

About the artwork

This photo art piece shows a marble fountain with two lion heads pouring water into a drinking trough can be found in Citta della Pieve in Umbria, Italy. This is the Fontana at the Rocca Perugina, a medieaval fortress. The trough is large enough for horses, as well as people, to drink from. The date carved into the marble lip of the fountain is MCMXXIII which is 1923 and I imagine this must have been put there as part of some restoration. It has the words in Latin Sic Vos Non Vobis which literally translates to 'so you, not for you'. It is said to relate to something the Roman poet Virgil wrote as follows:

« Sic vos non vobis nidificatis aves,

Sic vos non vobis vellera fertis oves,

Sic vos non vobis mellificatis apes,

Sic vos non vobis fertis aratra boves »

("So you, but not for yourselves, nest birds,

So you, but not for you, produce sheep's wool,

So you, but not for you, make bees honey,

So you, but not for you, bring the plow oxen»)

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
