Liquid is one of the aggregation states in which matter can occur. A liquid is a substance that undergoes shape changes easily, but resists volume change under the influence of pressure. In this, liquids are distinguished from solids, which retain their shape, and gases and plasmas, which are compressible.[1] At the micro level, a liquid consists of particles that are constantly in random motion, but only have a free path length on the order of the diameter of the particles.
