Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘Little beetle on lavender’ by Luke Davids

Sometimes you just need to look a little closer to discover just how extraordinary nature really is. Using my macro lens, I captured this little beetle as it walked calmly across a flowering lavender sprig. Up close, the subtle metallic colours on its shell really stand out, revealing a world full of details that you can barely see with the naked eye.

The soft purple hues of the lavender, the fresh green and the tranquil background ensure that all attention is drawn to the insect. The minimal depth of field creates an almost dreamlike image in which the tiny subject takes centre stage.

For me, this photograph shows that beauty doesn’t always have to be grand. It is precisely the smallest inhabitants of our gardens and nature reserves that turn out to be surprisingly colourful and photogenic when you take the time to look closely. A tranquil macro photograph that fits perfectly into an interior where nature, simplicity and subtle colours come together.
