Living on a bridge like the Ponte Vecchio in Florence (Firenze), Italy must be really special. Although, truth be told, most houses are actually goldsmith shops. Shopkeepers altered the original structure by taking away the old battlements, adding windows, and building upwards and backwards out over the river, supporting the new rooms on wooden props called sporti. The shops attract a lot of tourists and it makes crossing the bridge in between all the shops pretty chaotic.
