Among the fresh moss in a dark corner of the forest, this mushroom was just right. I had spotted it during the day and returned later with a small lamp. At dusk, the image took on something magical. Soft ferns formed the background, their typical leaf pattern silhouetted against a soft aqua blue glow. Everything was damp and silent, just the gentle rustling of leaves above me.
The light from the small lamp accentuated the structure of the cap and highlighted the fragile stalk. Precisely because there was only one mushroom, it stood out even more strongly in the composition. The ferns give depth and a natural texture, without being overpowering.
I took this photo in a shady part of the Loonse en Drunense Duinen, where the forest slowly turns into open sandy plains. In autumn, you find lots of mushrooms here on mossy stumps and dead tree remnants.
