View from the Hudson River of Lower Manhattan. Lower Manhattan is the southernmost part of Manhattan. It is the main district and the commercial and administrative center of New York. It is generally defined as the area bounded by depending on its source, Chambers Street or 14th Street on the north, the Hudson on the west, the East River on the east, and The Battery and New York Bay on the south. Lower Manhattan contains New York City Hall, the Manhattan Municipal Building, the financial district around Wall Street and the World Trade Center. This photo was taken during a boat ride on the Hudson River. This photo is also available in color.
