About ‘Lower Rhine’ by Gert van Eck

The Lower Rhine near the Blauwe Kamer nature reserve, close to the town of Wageningen. The Lower Rhine – commonly known simply as the Rhine – is the branch of the Rhine that runs from the Pannerdens Canal near Angeren, past Arnhem, to Wijk bij Duurstede. There, the river splits into the Lek and the Kromme Rijn.
It is a fine example of the Dutch river landscapes depicted by the Old Masters in the seventeenth century, with cows in the meadows, their hooves in the water. Unfortunately, there were none here, but I was able to photograph a super-', quintessentially Dutch summer sky above this tranquil river.

I started photography when I was fifteen, back in the days of rolls of film and darkrooms. Professionally, I like to photograph for companies, people working on something and also just customised photo shoots or just portraits.
My autonomous work consists of reportage, travel photography, nature photography including landscape, animals, weather and atmospheric phenomena and sometimes a little astrophotography. I mean the night sky, but without telescopes.
