Lower mill K is a polder mill built around 1633, which was later fitted with an auger. It is a thatched octagonal mill of the ground-sailer type with an old Dutch sails. The cap is fitted with a wooden-roller wheelwork, which is seasoned inside. The mill, like more North Holland polder mills, is an indoor crosser. It is equipped with a fixed strut catch.
The mill was part of the so-called 'North Shore' of the Schermer, which together with the 'South Shore' and the smaller corridor near Schermerhorn had the task of grinding out the inner Schermer estuary in three stages to the Schermer estuary. Unlike the small corridor at Schermerhorn, the North Coast remained three-stage, as the augers were not adequate enough to go back to two stages.
