Discover a beautiful macro photo of a Yellow Trilus mushroom, taken at very close range as it grows on an old tree branch. The blurred background makes the trill fungus stand out from its surroundings. This breathtaking photo was taken in the Malpie nature reserve, located in Dutch Limburg.
Information on the Yellow Vibranch:
The Yellow Tripod is a common mushroom that can be found year-round on branches of various deciduous trees. The fruiting body often breaks through the bark, but can also grow on already debarked branches. This quaking fungus thrives on rotting hardwood, such as dead branches still attached to the tree, fallen branches or dead roots.
Although not considered an edible mushroom in Europe, the Yellow Vibranch is collected and consumed in the Far East. There, it is known as the "Yunnan golden fungus" and is also used as a medicine for lung diseases.
