This digital artwork is based on a photo taken on a beautiful late summer day on a dike in Bommelerwaard, The Netherlands, of a little flower called mallow. I superimposed that photo in eight transparent layers in Photoshop. Rotating each layer 45 degrees relative to the underlying one created this image. The purple-blue of the flower has withstood the transformation well, but it is mainly the yellow and green tones of the grass and other flowers on the dike that dominate the image: a golden-yellow swirl with purple and blue accents on a bed of green.
