The Sunday market of Pisac is one of the most important markets in the Cusco area. In the past, the market in the church square was mainly the territory of Indian traders who sold their fruits and vegetables there. Nowadays an important part of the market is dedicated to arts and crafts and tourist souvenirs. Yet there is still much to enjoy at this market. If you make sure to arrive early, before 10:00 am when the large groups of tourists arrive, you will get a good impression of the authentic fruit and vegetable market where the Indians from the distant surroundings do their shopping and selling. If you have looked around for a while you can go to the Inca ruins located above the village. A beautiful complex with a great view over the Sacred Valley. From here you can walk back to the village for a nice lunch on one of the terraces.
