The "Giant dandelion" meadow goat's beard in the summer meadow.
The seed head of the meadow goat's beard is about six to eight centimetres tall and thus about twice as large as that of the dandelion. The umbrella-like appendages on the elongated nut fruits (achenes) are more densely interlocked and sturdier than the dandelion's delicate dandelions. This gives them a clinging effect, allowing them to stick to animal fur and spread in this way. Seeds ripen from July to September.
