Near the village of Melnik, also the smallest city in Bulgaria, lie these erosion shaped rock formations, also called hoodoos.
A walk of about 5 km on narrow rocky paths leads you straight through the area along a number of beautiful viewpoints. As it is not a circular hike you will have to return along the same route. The route runs from Melnik to the Rozhen monastery. If you do not feel like or have time to walk the complete walk you can walk from the Rozhen monastery in about 15 minutes to the most beautiful viewpoint and then you walk back at your leisure.
This beautiful natural phenomenon, also called the pyramids of Melnik, can be found at the foot of the Pirin Mountains in the southwest of Bulgaria.
