Mill near Kinderdijk in the sun against a dark threatening sky. The Netherlands
Photographed from the other side between the reeds.
The mill has recently been provided with a new reed layer.
At Kinderdijk there are nineteen mills in the northwest of the Alblasserwaard, a region in the province of Zuid-Holland.
They are polder mills, which pump up the water from the lower polders.

These are the Water Board for the Boezem van de Overwaard and the New Water Board for the Boezem van de Nederwaard. They discharged into Elshout, northwest of the Alblasserwaard and waters down to the river Lek.
