De Groot of de Molen van Piet is a round stone scaffolding corn mill in the Dutch city of Alkmaar. The mill was built as a rampart mill on the Poor Clares stronghold near the former Kennemer Gate and still dominates the townscape there.
In 1884 the mill was bought by Cornelis Piet, who had a house made at the bottom of the mill. The mill's surname remained popularly associated with this mill, and the old name De Groot is hardly ever used.
The mill has been equipped with breeding sails since 1955. There are 3 pairs of grindstones in the mill. The king's spindle of the mill is an old ship's mast and therefore probably older than the mill itself.
The mill is now owned by the municipality, but is still inhabited and drained by a member of the Piet family.
