Mill 't Witte Lam in Zuidwolde in the province of Groningen on a wintry day in March with a little snow. The mill was built in 1860 to replace the spider-head mill Het Lam (built 1818), which had collapsed a year earlier. In 1950, the mill was in very poor condition. An attempt was then made to have the mill demolished. Due to opposition from the provincial government, this failed and the mill was restored. As of 1 May 1968, The White Lamb water board was dissolved. In November 1969, the mill lost its original drainage function and has been a back-up pumping station ever since.Although the mill is always classified under Zuidwolde, it is in the municipality of Groningen. For many years, the mill was owned by the Molenstichting Hunsingo en Omstreken, the current owner is Stichting De Groninger Poldermolens.
