About ‘Mirror of time and texture’ by Hans Kwaspen

I look for beauty in contrasts-weathered wood and rusty metal, an interplay of organic and industrial elements. This abstract photographic work is a snapshot of time and decay, a dialogue between rough textures and impermanence. The metal plates, scarred by oxidation, almost seem to form a relief, while the wood carries its own stories in the cracks and grain.

My inspiration comes from the art of matter, in which the everyday transforms into something monumental. I feel a kinship with the works of Antoni Tàpies and Aaron Siskind, artists who use texture and degradation as expressive forces. An atmosphere of quiet poetry is created here-an abstract landscape in which time becomes tangible.

What makes this work special is the way it invites the viewer to discover details and stories. It is not a superficial image, but a layered experience that reveals itself again and again. As a work of art on the wall, it brings depth and character to any space, a quiet reminder of the beauty of decay and the aesthetics of imperfection. This is not an image merely seen, but a work that feels like a tangible reminder of the traces of time.
