About ‘Moai on the way from Rano Raraku’ by Jelmer Laernoes

Easter Island an island in the middle of the atlantic ocean 6 hours flight from the mainland. Was discovered on Easter Day to which it owes its name.
Easter Island is also called Rapa Nui by the locals, where you can find these beautiful moais everywhere. But here at Rano Raraku you'll find most of them. This is the birthplace of the Moai, where they are carved from the stones. From where they were moved towards the coast to eventually look out over the sea.
So it is absolutely beautiful to walk here between the statues. And all the different stages of the creation of these giant heads.
Personally, I think these statues exude a certain mystique. Why are they here, what exactly was the reason for making them. And in this case where were they headed, what would be their final place on the island.
