Although time moves on, human nature and emotions seem to change only superficially. Lisa Gherardini, the mysterious woman immortalised in the masterpiece of the Mona Lisa, remains a fascinating figure even in our modern times. What would she look like today? Would we recognise her? Would her captivating beauty and kindness still capture our hearts, just like in the famous painting?
With these thoughts in mind, the idea arose to give her a contemporary twist, to place her in a context that is instantly recognisable to us modern people. The first step was to remove the craquelure, which symbolises the ravages of time, followed by a subtle modernisation of her hairstyle. I then created a self-portrait, placing myself in a pose that matched that of the Mona Lisa, giving her portrayed figure a fitting body.

With this modern approach, we can ask: how would Lisa respond to today's world? Would she wear the same smile, the same look of enigmatic wisdom in her eyes? Perhaps, like the original artwork, this interpretation leaves us with even more questions, and the mystery of Lisa Gherardini continues to live on in our imagination.
