This is part 2 of 3 from my contemporary ode to 'The Girl with the Pearl Earring'.This lady has the same look as in 'Part 1' but is in a more open, airy frame. The background is more colourful and dynamic: splashes, graphic lines and loose planes superimposed like a city map. The face is serene, almost meditative, while the colours around it pick up the pace.
Here I played more with rhythm: thin drips, short scratches, and semi-transparent layers just touching. The pearl earrings remain the silent centrepiece.
At home, this work works well as a fresh focal point in a bright living room or studio. It carries energy without taking over the space. For me, it's about balance: gentle dignity in a busy world. A well-known classic, translated to now-with its head held high and a touch of urban noise.
