Monument Valley, in the heat of August, in transit from Arches NP to San Diego, CA. Even if you've never been there yourself before, you immediately recognize it as the backdrop of classic Westerns, as well as films like Back to the Future III and Forrest Gump, for example. A merciless and impressive landscape full of shimmering colors.
I painted the original painting of Monument Valley in acrylic after a tour of America's South-West from my then residence of San Diego. For Werkaandemuur, I digitally manipulated the painting so that the reds and oranges are even more pronounced. The painting thus adds a warm accent to a neutral interior or gives a pop on complementary painted walls. The depth in the painting takes you into the landscape, heading for the magical sandstone rocks on the horizon.
