Moody red dahlia with smoke – Botanical still life

by Marjolijn van den Berg

This atmospheric, captivating photograph: "Moody rode Dahlia met rook - Botanisch stilleven" is a macro shot of a red dahlia from which soft, light wisps of smoke seem to drift.
This photograph fits in very well with today’s popular light-and-dark interior design trends, such as Moody Florals, Dark Academia and Hotel Chic. The dark background, the floral art and the elegant design all contribute to this.

The flower is positioned off-centre, which creates a subtle sense of tension. In some areas, the flower is almost swallowed up by the dark background, but when in the spotlight, it really comes into its own.

It might seem very easy to take this photograph, but creating the lighting and just the right amount of smoke for this shot was no easy task… but in the end, it turned out exactly as I’d imagined it!

This piece would look stunning, for example, as wall art in the bedroom – on canvas or in an ArtFrame above the bed – as wallpaper in the hall to create a beautiful entrance, or simply above the sofa in the living room, perhaps on aluminium! It would also look lovely on the wall behind acrylic glass in a meeting room, waiting room or office (business setting).
