During our expedition in the country of Niger, we had to wait for a while in a square. These musicians quickly discovered us when they saw that they were guests. The musicians gave the best they had. The spectators from the village gathered around our jeep in droves, wondering who we were anyway? It must not have helped that we carried a diplomatic badge and so they mistook us for particularly important. We were completely wrapped up with beautiful music in African style. A small contribution for them was gladly accepted and so we moved on again. People in the Sahel are true survival artists. This makes them particularly creative in all sorts of things. If you show respect and allow everyone their place you will get particularly far.
