The skyline of New York is probably the world's most famous skyline. This photo is taken from Ellis Island, the island where once all immigrants passed, now a museum. The tallest tower in the skyline is the new One World Trade Center, with 1776 feet (541 meters) the tallest building of the western hemisphere. The height of 1776 feet is symbolic and refers to the year 1776 in which the United States Declaration of Independence was signed.
