About the artwork

The Amstel is a major river in the Netherlands that flows through the heart of Amsterdam, the country's capital.

The Amstel River rises in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug in the province of Utrecht. It then flows through several cities, including Amsterdam, before finally emptying into the IJsselmeer.

The Amstel River is closely linked to Amsterdam and the city takes its name from a dam in the river. The original dam was built in the 13th century and formed the basis for the city. The area around the dam became known as "Amstelredamme" and later developed into Amsterdam.

In Amsterdam, the Amstel plays an important role in the city's iconic canal system. Several major canals, such as the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht, connect to the Amstel, creating a network of waterways that characterises the city.

One of the most famous bridges over the Amstel is the Skinny Bridge. This wooden drawbridge is a picturesque landmark and a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The bridge is especially beautiful when lit up at night.

The Amstel river is a popular route for boat trips in Amsterdam. Visitors can take a scenic cruise along the river and enjoy views of the city's historic buildings, bridges and landmarks.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
