Westkapelle (NL) on the island of Walcheren in the province of Zeeland, there are two lighthouses. The tall lighthouse is in the town itself; the low lighthouse is on the dike along the sea.
I find many lighthouses very photogenic by themselves. The same goes for this lighthouse. It was mostly quite cloudy that day, but suddenly the cloud cover broke open slightly, revealing the rays of the sun. In the distance, this gave such a beautiful light! I always like it when you don't overlook a photo completely at once, but the eye keeps discovering something new. At first you see the red lighthouse, but then you look at the sky: you see clouds, bright spots, then the sun rays (instead of uniform sunlight) emerging through the clouds and then the beautiful warm light in the background.
It is a picture, which comes into its own in many rooms in your home or business premises. Beautiful in a (bin) frame, but also very nice as photo wallpaper! Fun facts: - the lighthouse was built between 1875 - 1876 - the architect was Quirinus Harder - during the war, this lighthouse became part of the Atlantic Wall and a bunker was placed on both sides of the turret.
