The aurora is often seen as a light glow, as moving arcs, as beams of light or as curtains of light. And sometimes there is an arc above the northern horizon from which rays of light shoot up like searchlights. Very rarely it shows a flaming character, in which a remarkable and relatively quick pulsating movement can be seen, comparable with the dancing of candle flames. And that is exactly what I experienced for about 15 minutes.
