A Northrop F-5B trainer jet of the Dutch Royal Air Force. The Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter is a light fighter-bomber of American design. The Netherlands Royal Air Force (KLu) received the first NF-5B, "K-4001" on 7 October 1969. The first NF-5s were assigned to 313 Sqn at the then Twenthe airbase. 313 Sqn became the conversion unit and retrained pilots on the NF-5. Upon conversion to the F-16, the very well-maintained NF-5s were stored at Gilze-Rijen and Woensdrecht airbases. Sixty were then sold to Turkey, 11 to Greece and seven to Venezuela.
