About "Nova GT"

About the artwork

The Nova GT (1971-1975) was a VW Beetle-based sports car designed by the two Englishmen Richard Oakes and Phil Sayers. Although it is hardly known and never received the press response of its predecessors such as the Alfa Romeo Carabo, Holden Hurrican, Abarth 2000 Pininfarina Scorpione or Lancia Stratos Zero, all of which remained concept cars or one-offs, the Nova GT, with all its licensing, was built all over the world in around 8,000 units. The Beetle's engine was of course not necessarily the first choice for a car that initially looked like a show car and everyone knew it was probably a kit car. So, apart from local laws, there were hardly any limits to the engine. Porsche, Ford Capri or Alfa aggregates and many more were popular. And he achieved world fame with various films such as "On the Highway, All Hell is Breaking Loose Again" ("Cannonball Run II"), Condorman, Two Like Pitch and Brimstone.
