About ‘Old colliery’ by Monodio Photography

Mining architecture that reflects a whole century. This double shaft was built in 1907.

The clear structure of the foundation plant has been preserved to this day despite all the modernisation. During the Second World War Westerholt suffered severe damage. The winding tower above shaft 2 was the only one in the Ruhr area to be destroyed in a bombing raid. In the 1950s the colliery was given a new central winding shaft, which was topped by a closed winding tower. In 1998 RAG merged Westerholt with Fürst Leopold colliery in Dorsten to form the Lippe colliery. On December 19th 2008 Westerholt colliery was closed down as the last colliery in Gelsenkirchen when the last wagon of coal was brought to the surface. Normally I don't mention locations by their names, but this is not necessary here, because the colliery is in the process of dismantling, which is a pity. A piece of regional industrial culture is lost here....

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
