Westland is still and mostly known for its agricultural industry. Flowers, plants and vegetables are now the main crops, as it is called. Until around 1960, however, grapes were also grown in Westland. Grapes were even an important export product. Competition from abroad was, among other things, the reason why grape cultivation, of necessity, stopped. The grapes were grown in special, simple, greenhouses.
