A cluster of old olive trees stands in a pasture in Portugal's hinterland near Evora. Grass and white spring flowers grow between the trees. The long shadows of other trees give the meadow an interesting and varied structure. Unlike in other countries around the Mediterranean, in Portugal you often see trees growing on meadows and, as here in spring, the beauty of these cultivated landscapes is beautifully accentuated by the coexistence of trees, grass and flowers. The lush green of the various grasses, interspersed with the dots of light from the white flowers under the gnarled old trees, can be used as a mural to give a room an eye-catcher that radiates peace and beauty. In living rooms as well as in offices, waiting rooms and medical practices, this picture can convey something of its special atmosphere.
