The Wachau, my home. My family has lived in the Wachau for generations. And even though I have since found my home in St. Pölten, it is a landscape that never lets you go. No wonder the Wachau is popular and well-known far beyond our borders. Many come here year after year to spend their holidays on the Danube. To hike through the vineyards or to drive along the river.
I love to hike up the hills here. They offer an incomparable view of the Danube valley. Impressive at any time of year. In the sunset picturesque and so far.
Here I am on the Loibenberg on a fine circular hike. And with a lot of luck in my rucksack, I was in the right place at the right time.
Here in Lower Austria there is a wonderful abundance of landscapes. From vineyards to deep forests. From wild to gentle. From hilly to flat. With colourful cellars and striking farms. With historic towns and modern architecture. I was born in the middle of the Wachau, now live in the provincial capital St. Pölten - and spend every free minute travelling in "my" Lower Austria!
