Island in a crystal clear Eibsee at the foot of Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2,962 m) in Bavaria, southern Germany.
The photo ( from a series around the Eibsee) was taken on an early spring morning in May 2022 during sunrise.
At night I stayed close to the Eibsee and it had rained, blown and thundered all night, so actually I saw my chances of a beautiful sunrise decreasing by the hour. Fortunately, around a quarter past four in the night, the clouds broke and the lake turned into a mirror-smooth surface.
This photo was taken about half an hour after sunrise. This put the sunlight at such a nice angle that the rocks and the bottom of the Eibsee became beautifully visible and formed a nice foreground. For this I used a polarizing filter.
When I see the little island I always become "Sehnsüchtig" to be able to go there when I want and how often and to fully enjoy the peace and simplicity of the amazingly beautiful nature without the distraction of modern means of communication. Just read, swim in the lake, cook some delicious food and look around. Fill in the blanks yourself....
I was lucky to be all alone, apart from the water birds, a deer that walked by a little further and the trout swimming by. When the sun came up, I couldn't contain my joy. Something so beautiful never bores.
