There is history around every corner in Nuenen and according to my personal opinion, it shines the best in Autumn. This heem house is the location of the local cultural history society. Twice a week the doors are open for residents to come and learn more about the history of this corner of Brabant.
In the past, the heem house was the carriage house of a much greater house. Now that great house has become the gemeente house for Nuenen, and this small house guards the history.
The sun does not shine often or with much warmth late in Autumn, but this day is an exception. The old brick and glass paned windows add warmth, as does the natural twisting lines of the tree. The bicycle behind the tree adds a human element.
This photograph imparts both warmth and a bit of industrial aesthetic design to any interior. It brings to mind the smell of pine and the timeless Brabant welcome.
