About ‘Open door’ by Jet van Wijk
A house in the former German diamond-mining town of Kolmanskop in Namibia has largely been reclaimed by the desert. Only one of the doors still stands proudly and unshakeably. However, its function has been rendered useless by the encroaching sand.

I’ve been taking photographs since my early childhood, and for a long time the darkroom was my favourite place. Nowadays, the darkroom has gone digital, but my love of photography remains. Urbex (abandoned places) is my passion: places that people have left behind and which nature is reclaiming. But I also enjoy photographing city life and landscapes.
