The osprey is a unique bird of prey because it exclusively eats fish. It is not related to other raptor species. For a long time, it was only a transient in the Netherlands, but they are increasingly sticking around during the breeding season. The first breeding case of the osprey in the Netherlands occurred in 2016 in the Biesbosch.
