About "Osprey with its prey"

by Pieter JF Smit

About the artwork

A bit of a lurid picture. This osprey enjoys its freshly caught fish. Remarkable that he starts by eating the head of the fish and not the fillets, which are tasty to humans. The osprey is a unique bird of prey because it eats only fish. It is not related to other raptor species. This bird is found in the Netherlands. However, this picture was taken in Bonaire.
